New Focus's History
In 1987, Jenny Forner provided the leadership to establish "Quality Living", a weekly budgeting program in a non-profit agency. In 1994, New Focus began training churches in order to equip them with a system within their church, using people's needs to form relationships and providing a weekly money management ministry to support families on their way to self-sufficiency. In 1997, New Focus began training churches nationally.
New Focus has trained over 300 churches and non-profits in 19 states and 26 denominations. Lives are being changed as people move from just getting resources, to gaining knowledge how to manage their resources and build relationships as they attend a weekly small group and give to others.

Mission and Objectives
To train Christ-centered churches to provide a process and to encourage a philosophy through which effective acts of stewardship and compassion will be accomplished, thereby generating Christ-centered relationships that impact and revitalize families and their communities.
Success comes when churches, establishing this process, no longer simply serve as a shipping dock for goods and services, but use their resources to give opportunities to families that desire to be accountable with their finances to create long-term change that they identify.
New Focus will give structure to any church or non-profit that views the needs brought to them as an opportunity to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ.
The participant receives tools on how to move from getting, to gaining, to growing, to giving. No longer does the church celebrate how many pounds of food they have given away, but rather how many families have been moved to self-sufficiency and have been introduced to the love of Jesus through church volunteers.
Learning Stewardship by Living Stewardship With People in Need.
- We believe that Christ’s church can and must demonstrate His love through its stewardship and compassion for others.
- Equip the church of Jesus Christ for their work of ministering to hurting individuals.
- Empower individuals to live a balanced life physically, financially, spiritually and emotionally.
- Church and non-profit volunteers are given opportunities to "love their neighbor" in a way that is manageable and supervised. Many times a family that requests assistance has other life issues and with a team approach, ministry becomes rewarding.
- Results will be strong families who add influence to their church and community, while learning to serve others.
