re:MADE Stores
New Focus National has partnered with re:MADE Stores to create retail spaces that utilize artists and volunteers to connect with people through repurposing and resale. New Focus and re:MADE Stores work to connect and mentor people, those living below the medium income are encouraged to participate in "Dreams re:MADE" where their skills as accessed and they learn to make a product that can be resold and they can earn extra income or maybe start their own small business.
In 2017, New Focus is expanding replication of this model in other states through re:MADE Stores which is a DBA of New Focus. Another tool for churches to use to empower people and help their dreams come true and where community can be built with people from different socioeconomically groups and cultures.
In 2015, Patti Buist and Jenny Forner started a nonprofit in Anchorage, Alaska called Anchorage re:MADE, to empower people and repurpose items that formerly went to the landfill. They established Anchorage re:MADE, which has become the pilot store, it is a 17,000 sq ft resale retail facility and has 100% volunteer staff. It is set up with a large workroom area that facilitates classes, volunteering, partnering with other nonprofits, and much more.
We are excited to see where this will grow. If you would like more information please email: info@remadestores.com.
